----------------------
1. Installation

1.1. This script is intended to be used in Autodesk 3ds max and supports versions from 2012 to 2015. 3ds max versions prior to version 2012 may possibly work, but may have certain issues/glitches.
1.2. Once you have downloaded the files provided to you, extract the archive to any location and then either drag and drop the file named "vSaver installer.mzp" directly into 3ds max viewport or choose MAXScript -> Run Script and navigate to that file. The file (mzp archive) will automatically copy all the needed files for you. If everything was copied correctly, you should see a popup window informing you that the installation was successful. If you see a popup window saying that the script was not installed correctly, please contact the author via email: k.michal@zoho.com
1.3. If the script was installed successfully, you can select "Customize" -> "Customize user interface" inside 3ds max window, switch to "Toolbars" tab, switch to "vSaver" category (under group "Main") and drag and drop the "vSaver" script anywhere in your 3ds max user interface. You can also assign it to a keyboard shortcut or a right click menu.

----------------------
2. Saving versions and creating previews

2.1. When you first run the script you should see either a window asking you whether the script should create a new project or an actual "vSaver" window with all the script user interface. The first window will be shown if the current 3ds max file is not saved to disk. If you click on "Yes" in that window, it will ask for a path to create a new project and save the .max file.
2.2. In order to save the version of the project specified in the "Version" and "SubVersion" spinners, all you have to do is click on the "vSave" button in the bottom of the window.
The saved max file will not be opened, only saved in the location of the main file.

If "Create screenshot" checkbox was checked, a screenshot of the viewport will be created for that version and saved in the location of the main file.

If the "Info" text box below was edited, the text entered (for example changes made) will be associated with that file when managing the project.

If "Create preview" checkbox was checked, a preview of the current viewport will be created in the location of the main file with the settings (resolution, range, etc.) specified in the window.

If "Convert with VDub" was checked, the script will ask for the location to the Virtual Dub executable file (VeeDub .exe) and the conversion script. You can download Virtual Dub for free online, and you can generate the conversion script by clicking on File -> Virtual Dub... -> Create conversion script. Note that the codec specified in the script generator window must be installed on your computer. Once you have specified the needed Virtual Dub files, they will be saved in the settings file for the script, and when creating a preview later in the future, the script will not ask you to choose them. Note that it's not needed to convert the preview, but uncompressed avi files, which the script generates, can get very large without conversion.

You can also generate previews the standard way 3ds max generates them, this can be done by changing the "Preview creation mode" setting in "Preview" subrollout in File -> Settings.

----------------------
3. Managing project

3.1 In order to see all the files, screenshots, previews, changes etc. saved by the script, you need to click on File -> Manage project. This will open a new window from which you can load the saved files, open previews for saved files and see the changes made.

----------------------
4. Changing settings

4.1 You can access the script settings by clicking on File -> Settings. This will open a new window where you can change the way the script handles screenshots, previews etc.
The "Preview" subrollout handles the preview settings. There, you can change the preview creation mode (3ds max standard or Custom generated by the script), Virtual Dub paths and Custom Post Action to be executed after the script is created.
The "Screenshots" subrollout handles the screenshot settings. Here you can specify the screenshot extension, default size etc.
In "Preferences" subrollout you can set default options to be checked when the script is opened.
